Strategy Implementation

  • Does implementing strategy get derailed by the demands of today’s business?
  • How can you get the most out of the limited time that you can devote your best people to the most challenging strategic projects?
  • How can human capital management practices and systems be aligned to ensure the organization has the capacity and the capability to change?

Many strategy efforts fail, not because the strategy isn’t sound or the vision isn’t compelling, but because no one is responsible for the basic blocking and tackling of implementation.  Strategy implementation is the day-to-day program management that supports the achievement of strategic goals.  It ensures that the programs have sponsors, that plans are in place, that a core team is established with roles and responsibilities, that regular team meetings take place to monitor progress, and that progress is reported to sponsors.  Strategy implementation is the decidedly unglamorous, but supremely necessary work that turns ideas into reality.
