Wendi Bukowitz

Wendi Bukowitz is a strategy and innovation consultant who helps leadership teams transform great ideas into sustainable growth.  Her extensive background includes strategy, innovation, knowledge management, and marketing.  She has worked for and with organizations ranging across services and manufacturing industries as well as the for-profit and not-for-profit sectors.

A gifted strategist, Wendi has consulted to diverse organizations striving to imagine the future.  From a very large government agency that wanted to go beyond a view from the top when developing its vision to a very small newly-minted charity that needed to marshal its resources behind a carefully crafted strategic plan to a mid-sized food manufacturer that wanted a candid and critical assessment of its strategy – Wendi brings her natural curiosity, engaging style, and years of experience to bear on solving thorny organizational challenges.

As a corporate pioneer in the field of innovation, she founded the Innovation team at Watson Wyatt (now Towers Watson) where she worked with business units to launch new services through acquisition and organic growth and to enter new markets.  Previously, Wendi established the New Product Development team at Mellon (Human Resources Sector) where she was responsible for launching several key products – among them Health Savings Accounts, the new portable healthcare IRA-type spending accounts. 

As co-author of The Knowledge Management Fieldbook, an authoritative guide to developing a knowledge management strategy, and founding member of the editorial board of the Journal of Intellectual Capital, Wendi is recognized as a leader in the field of knowledge management.

She was a Director in PricewaterhouseCoopers’ Intellectual Asset Management practice, served as Research Director for Arthur Andersen’s Global Best Practices KnowledgeSpace initiative and Next Generation Research Group, and has had positions as a Senior Consultant for a boutique strategy consulting firm and Marketing Director for a printing company. 

Wendi has been published in prestigious journals such as the International Journal of Innovation and Technology Management, Research Technology Management, Journal of Intellectual Capital, Journal of Knowledge Management, The Journal of Strategic Performance Management, and CIO Magazine and is a frequent speaker on the topics of innovation and knowledge management.  She has participated in groundbreaking international programs to advance the field of intangibles research serving as Rapporteur for the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development’s (OECD) Symposium on Measuring and Reporting Intellectual Capital and as lead researcher on the Strategic and Organizational Issues subgroup for the Brookings Institution’s Working Group on Understanding Intangible Sources of Value.  Wendi holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Duke University.
